Mazda ADAS calibration requirements
i-Activsense depends on the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC), mounted to the windshield. Replace or remove the glass and that camera's reference to the road changes, which is why calibration is part of the repair rather than an upsell after it.
What i-Activsense is
i-Activsense is Mazda’s name for its driver-assistance suite. Not every feature in it looks through the windshield — blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are usually radar, mounted at the corners of the vehicle, and glass work does not disturb them. The features below are the ones that do depend on the camera behind your windshield.
We do not publish a model year at which i-Activsense became standard across the lineup, because we could not source that claim to Mazda. Availability varies by model and trim, so the question is about your specific vehicle.

Static or dynamic
Mazda is the one manufacturer in this set where the procedure is publicly documented in detail, and the answer is either. Mazda's service manual gives the FSC aiming procedure as dynamic aiming (a drive cycle) or static aiming (a target board), and states that aiming is required after FSC replacement or windshield replacement. Dynamic aiming calls for roughly five to ten minutes of driving above 25 mph on a straight, clearly marked, level road and times out at about twenty minutes. Mazda's own instruction is that if mid-drive aiming cannot be performed or fails, static aiming is performed instead.
