Toyota Safety Sense depends on a forward-facing camera behind the windshield at the rearview mirror. Replace or remove the glass and that camera's reference to the road changes, which is why calibration is part of the repair rather than an upsell after it.
What Toyota Safety Sense is
Toyota Safety Sense is Toyota’s name for its driver-assistance suite. Not every feature in it looks through the windshield — blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are usually radar, mounted at the corners of the vehicle, and glass work does not disturb them. The features below are the ones that do depend on the camera behind your windshield.
